ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
A WOMAN'S DEATH. MAN REMANDED IN CUSTODY. (By Telegraph.—Presa Association.) Auckland, October 19. The Coroner's inquest into the death of a woman named Ward, alias Lin- , dopp, who was found drowned in Auckland Harbour on" October 5, concluded to-day. Tho woman was identified as Alice Beatrico 'Ward. The Coroner (Mr. Ontton, S.M.) intimated that ho would announce his verdict to-morrow. Meanwhile Frank Taylor, the witness who had declared the woman was drunk when she fell into the- water, would be remanded in custody on a charge of vagrancy. FOUND DROWNED. Reefton, October 19. Mrs. James Billett, an elderly woman, was found drowned m the river yesterday. Deceased had bsen despondent for some time. FATAL FALL FROM A HORSE. Blenheim, Ootoßer 19. P. M'Laughlan, postma-ster and lineman at Kekerangu for the past eight years, met his death near Seddon on Saturday night. Ho .was returning home after line-repairing, and is believed to have been thrown from a horse. AN INQUEST POSTPONED. The inquest into the death of Edward Espada, the ship's fireman whose body was discovered floating in the harbour on Friday last, has been postponed until 4 p.m. to-day. Mr. F. T._ Clark, of Brougham Street, who was injured in the motor-car accident on the Hutt Road last week, was reported from the Hospital last night to bo much about tho same in condition.
