LAWN TENNIS

BIDWELL STREET CLUB. • There was a large attendance of players at the Bidwill Street Lawn Tennis Club's courts on Saturday afternoon on the occasion of tho opening of the season. The grass courts,were in perfect order, and play proved most enjoyable. Afternoon tea was provided by Mrs. and Miss Moore. 'The proceedings were enlivened by orchestral items, Miss Todd at the piano being assisted by Mr. A. Moore (clarinet) and violin. BROUGHAM HILL CLUB. There was a big attendance of members on the Brougham Hill Club's courts on Saturday afternoon', when a start was made with the handicap events. Results of matches played are as follow:—Men's Doubles: Ward and Roberts (10) defeated Instono and Bundle (10), 50—37; Bennett and Sullivan (20) defeated Turnbull and Goblo (24), 50—45.
