A keen demand is being experienced by many breeders for Lincoln; rams. No doubt the quantity of coarser wools required.for blankets, etc., by die military authorities is .sisting:'this, but. tflie .main factor is that our farmers for some years; past 3:ave been using tho finer breeds very largely'vand now require a cross witli tho Lincoln to keep up'the weight of fleece. A large number of Lincoln sheep 'have been exported to Australia, -Argentine, and the United States, And, Export Certificates have been granted for same. As much difficulty was experienced dliring-tho past, year in-the inspection of flacks which were dispersed before due ■ notification, 1 tho council nish to strongly emphasise the importance of .members notifying the secretary of all impending sales, so that arrangements can be made for inspection before tho sheep leave' tho vendor's property. Steps arc being taken for the incorporation of the association in accordance with tho Incorporated Societies' •Act, 190 S. The Registrar has requested that the name of the association toe altered to "The Lincoln Sheep-breed-ers' Association of Now Zealand."

The large amount standing as an asset in tho balance-sheet shown as -"Duo by . Members" is collected each May, when the annual return., of flocks como in. By altering-the'end of the financial year to June 30, a great proportion of what now is shown as "Due by Mem- , bers" will appear as a "Credit Balance at Bank'.' in future balance-sheets. To effect the alteration the. next bal-ance-sheet will cover a period of eigh- , r teen months.- • 'A tatoo has been purchased for.tho use of the association and.is availablo on application to the secretary. ■ It is intended to forward a case, of Lincoln jw.oo.l' to tho Panama Exposition. ■ Members l are requested to forward samples of wool to the secretary by Npvemberv2l. • The wool will be classed by ,an expert wool classer and forwarded as an exhibit from the association; '~'''.
