GOLF THE N.Z. CHAMPIONSHIPS. (By Teleffronh.—Press Association.) ■ Auckland, October 16. The New Zealand Golf Championship Meeting was continued to-day in fino weather. There were some interesting games in tho semi-fiuals of the amateur and professional tournaments. A. D. S. Duncan (Wellington), and J. Harold (Wangariui)'are left in tho' contest for the final of 36 holes for the amateur championship, and E. S. Douglas (Wanganui) and W. M'Ewaii (Masterton) will play off the final of/ tho professionals' match. A medal handicap, played to-day, was won by E. B. Bloomfield (Auckland). The results are as follow.:— Amateur Championship of New Zea-. land.—Third, round: J. Harold (Wanganui) beat J. ' Goes' (Wanganui), 1 up at tho 19tn hole; J. V. Burns (Auckland) beat P. C. Fryer (Auckland), 5 and 4; S.' Morpeth (Waihi) beat W: B. Colbeok (Auckland), 3 and 2; A. D.' S. Duncan (Wellington) beat F. G. Binney (Auckland), 6 and 4. Tlie Cricket Board of Control has deoided to leave the question of sending a British team to Australia next year in the hands of the Marylebono Club, and has adopted tlie Marylebone Club's suggestion, to. limit matches against States to .4J. days, but declined to limit test matches to ,5i days, insisting that they should bo played to a finish. . It was agreed to bring the follow-on rule into conformity with the English rule.-- ,

I , Tho Old Naval Rifle Club will open the season's shooting their Miramar .range tliis afternoon. .Tho first match of a series will be fired (9 shots and sighter) on ranges of .300 and 500 yards. The club will also fire foyr teams matches for the' challenge badges presented bv Mr. O. W. Martin. Tho -pre-, sent holder of the badges won last yeaj , is President Rabo!s team.
