GERMAN WORKMEN DISMISSED
AN EMPLOYER FINED. ' (Rec. October. 16, 8.20 p.m.) Sydney, Oteober 16. At the Industrial Court an employer was charged with dismissing five -German workmen without the requisite notice. ' He admitted that he dismissed them because- they were not naturalised subjects, and because the other employees objected to working with them. Ccunsel for the defence pleaded justification, because the men were alien enemies. The defendant was ordered to pay Is. in each case. -.'■•. NEW SOUTH WALES'COAL EXPORT (Rec. A meeting of the Sydney Labour Council opposed the idea of prohibiting t'he export of coal to San Francisco, Honolulu, and'tho West Coast of South America , to prevent it falling into tho hands of our enemies.
