EUTT ROAD CONTROL

DRAFT BILL APPROVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL. The draft Bill, as approved by the City Council last night, for the control of the Hutt Hoad, provides for the conetitution of a controlling board, to consist of tho Mayors of Wellington, Onslow, I'etone, and Lower Hutt, tho chairman of the counties of Makara and Hutt, and one other member, who shall he appointed in writing under the hands of tho Mayors of Eastbourno and Miramar, and the chairmen of the Johusonvillo Town Board and the Upper Hutt Town Board. The Mayor of Wellington is to he the chairman of the board, lho beard shall havo the same power to make regulations relating to its proceedings as havo borough councils, and shall have authority to repair, renew, and reconstruct tho Hutt Road, and to carry out all works ancillary thereto. Tho Wellington City Council will maintain the highway and will recover contributions from the local bodies concerned. The streot provisions of the Municipal Corporations Act arc to apply to tho road.
