WELLINGTON ASSOCIATION. The first annual report of' the Wellington Land Agents' and Auctioneers' Association, to be presented at the first annual meeting of msimbers, to be held at the Accountants' Chambers, Johnston Streot, on October 22, states that the operations of the association during the, first; year of its existence, which closed on, August 31 last, have been of a satisfactory nature. Among the more important business dealt with by . the executive wero tho proposed amendments to the Land Agents t Act, 1912, the formation of a Dominion Association, disputes ur.dor Rules 38 and 39, forms of authority to sell, inquiries, into cases of unlicensed persons acting as land agents; otc. A large number _of cases of unlicensed persons dealing with land or holding themselves out os land agents have been -investigated and brought under the notice of the Police Department. In one case a conviction was secured, and in others prompt steps wore taken, which caused operations to bo discontinued, but in ( a majority of cases it was found that in consequence of tho loose wording of the Act a. conviction could not be obtained unless it could bo proved that ,the persons charged made it their .business to sell or otherwise dispose of land. Tho number of members who joined the association waa 44 town, 19 country, and 2 branch offices. The funds of the association are in a sound financinl condition. There' is a credit balanco of £29 6s. Id.
