MR. HILEY'S IMPROVEMENT SCHEME. "• THE LOAN BILL. , A Loan Bill to provide for the improvement works recommended by Mr. J2. H. Hiley, General Manager of Kailways, in his annual report, was introduced into the House of Representatives yesterday. The Bill authorises the Minister of Railways to construct certain improvements (enumerated in the schedule hereunder), and the Minister of Finance is authorised to borrow the money necessary for the works, not exceeding £3,200,000 in all, provided that not more than £750,000 shall be borrowed in any one year. The maximum rate of interest prescribed for ,theso loans is £4 10s. per cent. Following is the schedule of the Bill:— Estimated Cost.
