At the sitting of the Horowhenua County Council on Saturday, Mr. Sidney Xirkcaldie, who recently met witli an accident on tho dangerous overhead bridge at Manakau, wrote offering to supply danger signals free of cost. The offer was accepted. A notice is to-be put up also reducing the speed of motor-cars to five miles an hour. H. S. Addington wrote offering to pay half the cost ,of an overhead bridge and approaches at Te Horo, provided tho council accepted dedication of a piece of road alrendy constructed by. him. This was agreed to. It was agreed that tho public pound, now in a disgraceful condition, should be improved.While Mrs: R. M. D'Ath was riding along Mill Road on Friday evening her horse bolted and she was thrown heavily to the road, and within a foot of a telegraph post. She was soverely shaken and bruised. Considerable interest will be display!ed.at the coming county elections in •this district, there being many aspirants to the seats. The general'opinion is that in most cases a change is desirable Walter Edward Rice was charged -yesterday with tho theft of £4, the property of James M'Laughlin. He pleaded guilty and was committed to the Supremo Court for sentence.
