A communication. was received from the Wellington Education Board, stating that regarding the question of the site for a high school for Petone, Hutt Valley and Eastbourne, the committee had after consideration recommended a portion of the Hutt Park, on account of its position and proximity to Hutt and Petone Railway Stations, etc., as being most suitable for the purpose. Therefore it applied for assistance, in order to bring about the dedication of 10 acros on the north-west corner of the'park, and added that realising that legislation would be necessary to give effect to the proposal, it asked the committee's full co-operation. The chairman stated that arrangements had been made to use the park as a camp for the troops, provided the hockey and other grounds were not encroached upon, and up to the present the military authorities had kept.their promise.
