The nineteenth annual report of the Junior Cricket Association states that the 1913-1914 season was a highly satisfactory one from all points of view, but particularly membership and finance. The present European crisis may interfere with the membership'this season, but the committee hope that retired members will assist olubs who have temporarily lost players. Eight entries were received for the senior, grade cup, and great interest was maintained throughout tho season. Tho final was a keen and interesting struggle, lasting over three Saturdays, Thorndon eventually winning- / , Entries for tho junior grade were also very satisfactory. No trophies have been awarded for the past season. The report adds:—During the past vear there has been a great deal ot talk in Wellington oricket circles, regarding tho possible amalgamation ot tho three Saturday Associations; but finally it was recognised that this was impossible,' as each of the three associations was playing cricket under entirely different conditions. However, a conference of delegates from the three associations was held to discuss matters of general interest, such as representative matches, relations with tho City Corporation regarding grounds, and so on. A good deal of good may result generally, while the inner working of each- association will not ho interfered with. . Tho action of the City Corporation m closing the grounds on occasions on account of rain does not altogether meet with the committee's approval, and it is hoped to make arrangements for the coming season by wliich this will he partly avoided. Manv of the association's players have loft with the Expeditionary Forces. Two or the committee—Messrs. J. W. Black and AV. L. Borrows—are with the forces at Samoo. Tho report concludes with the following paragraph:—"lt-is a matter for much regret that clubs do not regularly send in their results to the Press for publication, and it is hoped that more attention will bo given to this impor : 1 [ tant point in future."
