The manager of the Waihi Beefs-Gigantic Consolidation, Ltd., reporting for the week ending October 3, says:—The main 6haft has been sunk an additional 8 feet, making a total depth of 998 feet, leaving 16 feet to go to complete the 100-foot contract. Tho country being sunk through is very favourable, and is intermixed with small veins of'quartz, but no increase of water. All' machinery ia running well, and coal is' coming to hand in better supply. In timbering the shaft we are keeping the timber close down and finishing same as we go, except cage guides, which arc placod temporarily, but' will not take long to install permanently when completing contract. ■
