AND TWO-SOLDIER SONS. Mr. T. K. Sidoy stated in the House of Representatives yesterday afternoon that a Dunedin widow, whose two sons had com© to Wellington with the Otago section of the Expeditionary Force, had complained that she had not j - et received a singlo penny out of the pay of those two young men. Mr. Sidoy. said that ho would like the Minister of Defence to stato for the information of tho public what the arrangements were regarding tho remittance of pay to dependents. The Minister _ (Hon. J. Allen) said that no instructions had been given to hold up pay -which had been allocated to dependents. Half the pay of the nion was being kept, but the authorities could not allocate money to a mother or a wife unless the soldier who earned it so directed the authorities. What the Defence Department was trying to do was to induce the men to eign forms allocating their pay to their wives and children, or other relatives, to allocate money to pay their debts, and, further, to make allocations to Keep their lifo insurance policies going. Wlie Minister went on to say that if Mr. Sidoy could supply the name of the widow, an officer might induce tho two men concerned to sign forms allocating a portion of their pay to hev. '
