OBJECTIONS HEARD IN ASSESSMENT COURT.
When the Assessment Court resumed yesterday, it was announced that a conference had taken place between the objectors in tdie business area and the valuers, and that, after the discussion had endured for an hour and a half, the objectors' representative had decided not to, proceed any further with at least fifty of.the cases. It was said, also, that tiiere would be no alteration at all in the unimproved valuations, but that in one or two cases Mr. P.,N..Martin (State Valuer) was to make a further inspection. of improvements and that both eets of parties would abide by "his decision.
OTHER OBJECTIONS. The Court then ■ proceeded to hear an objection by J. E. Miles to the valuation of £4000 placed on'his property (part section 116) in Upper Willis Street. Mr. T.. Neave represented the objector. After hearing evidence the Court reduced the capital value to £3868.
Mr. Miles objected also to the capital valuation of £1220 on lot 1, section 358,\Austin Street,'but the Court sustained the assessment. This decision governed two other objections concerning Austin Street property, and ■ the objector (Mr. Miles) withdrew the cases.
The same party proceeded with an objection against the valuation placed upon a property of his in Brougham Drive. The State officers sot its capital value down at £3074. In this instance the objector desired the unimproved valuation reduced and the valuation on the improvements correspondingly increased.
The case was partly heard, when the jDourt adjouTned till Friday nest.
