BERLIN PAPER COUNTS THE COST

Tho "Berliner Tageblatt" states it will require extraordinary exertions, to recapture the markets that were open to Germany before tho war. Exports to British colonies aggregated five hundred million sterling, and Germans may expect these countries not to buy from Germany what is buyable elsewhere.

New York, Ootober 5. The "New York World," commenting on 'the celebration of Peace Sunday, says: "It is good to pray for peace, but better to pray for justice, liberty, and the triumph of right and the victory of human justice."
Commenting on the landing of Indian troops, it eays 'the contingent belongs mainly to a- civilisation which was already old when Germany; was a forest. The appearance of Indian soldiers in Europe to support the British Emperor is aprecedent not likely to be forgotten in Europe.
