The Troopers' Club Room, which has been established . in. Sydney Street Schoolroom, is proving a decided convenience to the men. Last evening numbers of troopers availed themselvesof the big hall, and the writing mid reading rooms, etc. Mrs. H. D. Bell . was' responsible for the refreshments, a department which will be in'the 'hands of Mrs. Algar Williams this evening. • It is hoped to have the gymnasium in order by to-night, this department being directed by Mrs. Royd Garlick. Two further subscriptions were received yesterday—£2 2s. from Mr. Tolhiirst, and 10s. from Mrs. Winder. Victoria League Concert. A' very enjoyable concert, organised by the Victoria League Girls, was given to members'of the Expeditionary Force in U shed last evening, and was much enjoyed. A programme of songs, duet's, recitations, and ragtime-items, to say nothing of choruses, was given, and contributing to it were Miss.Dall and Miss Anderson, with songs. Miss Barbara Putnam gave a.ragtime song-and dnrice, Miss Dall and Miss Anderson sang a.duet, and further contributions were provided by Mrs. Scott Leslie,'who gave some recitations. Miss Gwen Shepherd contributed a recitation and la musical monologue. "A Long Way to. Tipperary" was the finishing chorus and was sung with great spirit.. Mrs. Gray, president of the Girls' 'Branch of ihdi League,. with several members of both leagues, was present. Miss Luke is visiting Christchurch, and is the guest of Mr. Holland, Mayor of Christchurch, and Mrs. Holland. Miss M. H. Wylie. was a passenger, ■by the Tainui, .which arrived in Wellington yesterday from England. ■ . Mrs. Barker and tho. Misses Barker (4), Gisborne, returned to New Zealand by tho Tainui from England yesterday. Airs; J. An orchestra played popular airs, and afternoon tea was served at small tables dotted about the lawn. Several of theguests took advantage of the croquet lawn-'to have a game. - Arrangements for entertaining the English visitors had also been made for the same afternoon by Mrs. Carey-Hill, and several other hostesses had made plans for entertaining them while-in Christchurch. ' Two large boxes of clothing have been dispatched by Mrs. N.
