Commenting on German mine-laying,, the "Times" naval correspondent says it does < not in the least prevent our fleets from making periodical ewoops through the-North S?a or appearing in. Heligoland Bight. AVhile the theatre of war is.limited, still there is a large portion in which the fleets can operate. German submarines cannot see under water, and their activities should be considerably curtailed by the German mines. BODIES WASHED ASHORE. (Rec. October. 5, 8.20 p.m.) ' Antwerp, October 4. Twenty-eight bodies picked up on the Dutch coast are supposed to belong to the sunken British cruisers. NORWEGIAN STEAMER LOST. (Rec. October 5, 3.30 p.m.) London, October 4.'. Sixteen survivors of the Norwegian steamer Throuco have arrived. The vessel was wrecked by a mine, and several. persons were drowned. - DUTCH STEAMER SUNK. (Rec. October 6, 9.30 p.m.) Amsterdam, October 5.' A mine sunk the Dutch steamer Niewulaud in the North Sea. The crew was saved.
