At 2.30 o'clock this morning a 'fire broke outin.tlio Oxford Street premises of O'rftill ana Diack, tailors, and spread to an adjoining empty shop. The rear parts of both shops were' badly' dam-' aged, and tho tailors' shop was completely gutted and jtheir stock, furnifcure, and machines were lost. The insurances were not ascertainable • this .morning. Hamilton, October 3. A fire at Frankton early this morning ■ destroyed tho cycle works- of J. Bennett. .-The damage is set down at £850; the insurance is £750 in tho Royal office. \ . OUTBREAK IN TARANAKI STREET. Fire very seriously damaged tlie building and contents of a 6hop and dv/elling.situated at 153 Taranaki Street at about half-past 10 on Saturday night. Tho occupier of the building was Mr. Claude Brown, while Mrs. Isabel Ferguson was tho owner. The building, which was a two-story one, constructed of wood and iron, was insured for £300 in tho South British office, and tho contents for £250 in the Northern office.
