At a meeting of tho majority of tho Provisional Committee of the Irish National Volunteers, Mr. John Redmond, M.P., was elected president. Resolutions wore adopted- appealing to Irishmen at Home and abroad for funds to equip and train volunteers to carry out the defenco of Ireland and for the advancement of Irish rights and maintenance of self-government. Mr. Redmond has received from (America £6000 to arm and equip the National Volunteers. BRITISH REVENUE. London, Octobor 1. The revenue of the United Kingdom for the quarter ended September was £35,681,283, the Customs contributing £8,337,000, Excise £8,298,000, and Stamps £1,855,000. CUSTOMS REVENUE. Melbourne, October 2. .The Customs revenue for tho last quarter increased by £382,000. REVISING THE PRAYER BOOK. Sydney, October 2. The Anglican Synod forwards to the Archbishop of Canterbury the following resolution: "That certain proposals adopted by the Houso of Convocation in revising the Prayer Book will largely weaken tho authority of the Scriptures and impair the Reformation settlement, and are not calculated to promote tho unity of the Church."
