PETONE FIRE BOARD

The quarterly meeting of the Petone Firo Board was held yesterday afternoon,' there being present: Messrs. J. W. M'Ewan (chairman), H. E. Kempthorne, C. R. Smith, T. P. B. Cliing, and 11. W. Mothes. It was decided to promote Messenger Jones to tho rank of fireman as soon as a vacancy occurred. Mr. J. Dawson advised, the completion of tho installation of firealarms in firemen's homes, and pointed out that if one alarm were interfered with all the others would be affectcd. 11 was resolved to' advise firemen tliat the alarms must not bo interfered with. Tho secretary reported that a credit balance of £80 was in hand. It was' decided to pay £10 per year to tho assistant-superintendent. The superintendent reported- that since last mooting there had been one firo and one falso alarm.
