BOYS' CRICKET LEAGUE

'ANNUAL MEETING. The ninth aiinual meeting 'of the Wellington Boys' Cricket League was held in tliG Y.M.C.A. rooms last nicht. Mr- AV. Walton 'presided. . ■ The annual report stated that the league, had now become firmly established, and was a fostering ground for the young cricket-era of Wellington. Excellent .players had' been brought to light by the league, and thoy had been representad in New Zealand representative matches. Last season was a successful one,' seventeen teams taking part, and many of the boys showed excellent form. Marist Bros. A (senior grade) and .United Methodists (juniors) led the competitions last season, and wore congratulated on their success. The bowling and batting averages were good, bat tiie catching in some of the games was very poor. The fielding department required more attention. ■ Trophies were won as follow:—Senior pjade—Batting, K..' Denuth (Marist Brothers)) 27.5; bowling, G. Cunningham (Boys' Institute;, 4.05. Junior grade—Batting, K. . Yales (Marist Bros.), 35,- bowling, H. D. Tonks (United Methodist), 2.60. ■ Best junior' fielder, — AVylie (Naumai). Good grounds were available, and the league tendered thaSiks to thto City Council for the interest they took inthe Boys' League, in granting good pitches; also to the City Council custodians for their unfailing courtesy. Financially the leagiie was on the right side of the balance-sheet. The report was adopted, The election , of officers was as follows :—Patron, His Excellency the Governor (Lord Liverpool), subject to his acceptance of the position; president, Mr. AV. AValton (re-elected); vice-presi-dents', Messrs. Ryan, Bennett, 'T. M'Carthy, D. M'Kenzie, F. Laws, and Eglin; secretary, Mr. F. M'Cluekey; treasurer, Mr. B. Mabin; committee, Messrs. Fitzgerald, R. Hornblow,. Graham, Foster, and G. Boesley; auditor, Mr: iiyan. A hearty vote of thanks' was passed to tho outgoing committee, and to the president, Mr. AV. AValton.
