GRAND OPERA HOUSE. Another successful performance of "Sweet Lavender" was given at the Grand Opera House last night by tho Buckler-Pagot Company. It was plainly to bo seen that the large audience enjoyed the revival of this comedy. Miss Violet Paget was again charming as Minnie Gilfillian, while Mr. Hugh Buckler,' as the American, Horace Hveam, repeatedly sent the house into Itls of laughter. This evening "Fanny's First Play" will bo revived for one night, and the season concludes to-mor-row night with the laughable, modern comedy "The Great Adventure." , "THE LIGHTS 0' LONDON." To-day ushers in at MacMahon's New Theatre' the great filmic adaptation of George R. Sims's fine 'drama, "Tho Lights o' London." ' A'private screeninn- of the picture was given at tho Now Theatre yesterday •morning, and without hesitation it can bo pronounced one of the finest pictures of its kind over shown locally. George Sims's great play is familiar to many theatregoers in stage form, and now its adaptation (under the personal supervision of' its author) to the screen has been attended, with singular success. Mr. MflcMahon, during his recent visit to tho Old Country, was fortunate in purchasing the picture, so that to-day it will be shown for the first time in New Zealand. The acting—several well-known actors and. actresses from the Lyceum Theatre take part—js excellent. . As to the photographing, of the picture, it is well nigh perfect, and the. plot of : the story gives scope rbr tho introduction of incidental scenery most interesting. Many London scenes of ospecial interest are introduced, and tht management anticipate a big run for the picture. ■ HIS MAJESTY'S THEATRE. Miss Rosa Loader styled "the Happy Slavey at the Piano," gives a, most entertaining and mirth-provoking "turn" on the current programme of vaudeville at His Majesty's Theatre, Courtenay Place. The manner in which this artiste burlesques opera and music-hall singing is immensely funny. New arrivals in this week's bill are:- "The Three. Lessos," sharp-shooters and jugglers,' who give'a turn that is altogether unique. Other. artists on the programme include the Quealeys (musical comedy act), Violet 'Carmen and Lawrence, and Gio' Angelo (comedian). .THE KING'S THEAIiTE. The current programme of pictures at the King's. Theatre- caters more particularly for the appetite for war-news. There is a particularly interesting gazette "of films showing topical war pictures from Europe. The farewell to the' New'. Zealand 'Expeditionary .Iforce at Wellington is ..Very : clearly depicted in another, picture. The big picture of the programme is. one of a Mexican bull fight. Supporting films include "Francine" (VW-agraph drama), "An Easy Victory" (comedy), "The Wise Chief's Reward" (Western drama), and "An Eavesdropper" (comedy). EVERYBODY'S PICTURES. ■An intensely-interesting picture drama entitled "England's Menace". features on the programme .of films at Everybody's Pictures.in the old Opera House, Manners Street, The story is of an imaginary surprise raid on England by a foreign Power. It. is just the class of film that the public likes to witness in these stirring times.
