MASTERTON NEWS.

At the annual meeting of the Masterton branch of the Royal New Zealand Association of Veterans Mt. S. Kingdoh was elected vice-president and Mr. G. M. Wood secretary and treasurer. Mr. Capper was appointed deleKate to the annual conference, to be held in Wellington on October 20. •Very heavy rain fell throughput the district on Saturday and the pastures and crops have been revived. The supplies to the local dairy factories will also be increased. , A patriotic concert, organised by Messrs. N. G. Rayner and F. D. The annual report of the Masterton Permanent Investment and Building Society shows that the net profit for the year amounted to £2094 7s. 6d., as against £204 15s. 6d. for the previous year. The percentage of profit showed a slight decrease on the previous year. The death occurred in the Masterton Hospital on Saturday of Mr. J. M'Arley, at the age of forty-one years.
