(Rec. ; September 24) 7.50 p.m.) .' , ■> Nairobi] Sept-ember 23. , A German -force attacked a post twenty miles from the border, in the Voi district, arid was repulsed after sharp fighting for an hour, leaving eight dead. '■' . , 'The Voi River.is in British East Africa, and is-about 75 miles from the German frontier. The ; -military force in British East Africa in' 1913 consisted of 21 officers and .750 men of the 3rd. battalion of the King's African Rifles, and 13.officers and 400 men of the Ist battalion. There are 1735 police under 38 European officers and non-commis-sioned officers. The military and police force in German East Africa is given as 261 German and 2472 natives. The Germans blew up the wireless station,'sank a. gunboat across the month of the' harbour, and we captured three German mail' boats which were in port." / The sailor added that the Pegasus* had been searching for the Konigsburg. .- -
