HARRIERS.
BROOKLYN CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP. ■ The Brooklyn Harriers hold their annual five-mile cross-country cliampionshiD on Saturday at Miramar. The course was practically the same as the Cook Cup course, and was papered by the captain (P. Wilton). Mr. P. Harvev. sen., acted as starter, and let eight oomnstitors away up to time! Prom the start F. Harlen took the lead, but was Boon, displaced by R. Ballantyne, G. Button, and J. Douglas, who were miming in that order. On entering the straight R. Ballantyne had a fair lead, which he maintained to the finish. For second place it■■ looked as if J. Douglas would displace G. Hutton. He drew level with Hutton in the straight, hut in the final dash Hutton sprinted and finished second, with Douglas close up third. .'■.-'" , , ■ In conjunction with this race a sealed handicap event was held, wliioh' resulted: C. Willis 1, F. Harlen and W. Wakeling (a dead heat) 2. After the race the members and friends adjourned to the Tram Terminus Tea Rooms. Next Saturday tho club will hold a consolation race from their chibroom, nnd in the evening the annual dinner and presentation of prizes will take ; place.
