Allen (Class 1) v. tho winner of.the play-off between Messrs. Perrott and Douglas, which is scheduled for Wednesday evening. The team which is to represent the club m the annual match against the Working Men's Club at the -latter's rooms this evening is a very strong ono. Both clubs have been practising steadily during the past winter, and an even, hard-fought match should be witnessed. Interest in the Working Men's Club's annual handicap tournament was well maintained last week, when nine games were disposed of. Coulter scored 3 wins, Featonby 2 wins, Mowtell, Alexander, C. Reid, and Key one each. Featonby, who has 3 more games. to play, is now leading with 94 wins 24 losses, closely followed by Burgess' B—3, J. Reid B—s, Perry 7—3, Key 7—5, Coulter 7—6, Gray 6—4,' aud Mowtell 6—4. The two games which the Wellington Chess Club is playing by correspondence with the Sydney School of Arts Chess Club have reached an interesting stage. Our local club claims to havo a marked advantage- in one game, and a slight advantage in tho other one.
