CANARY CLUB

At a meeting of prominent canary fanciers held recently at Brooklyn, Mr. Stearmand in tho chair, it was decided, on tho motion of Mr. Rider, Mr. Ford seconding, that a canary specialists' Club be formed to bo colled tho "Dominion Cariary Specialists' Club." Officers were- elected as follow-.—Pat-ron, tho Mayor (Mr. J. P. Luke); subpatrone, the Hon. F. M. B. Fisher, tho Hon. A. L. Hordman, Messrs. T. M. Wilford, and A. H. Hindmarsh, and Dr. Newman, M.P.'s, Mess-re. W. H. P. Barber, J. Langridgo, G. Frost, Peterson, D. Murphy, H. E. Wilkinson (Wanganui); president, Mr. J. Neil Ridor; vice-presidents, Messrs. J. Ford, F. Fitchett, and W. Bull; hon.'sooretary, Mr. Phil B. Billing; hon. treasurer, Mr. J. Ford. The objects of the club are to improve the various canary breeds, to cultivate the public tasto for exhibibition of tho same, to increase the strength of the local fanciers, and to establish a system of cash challenge trophies for competition by tho club members. It was resolved that the first, show of the now club would bn for young birds, to bo held on December 19, and that fm , the next meeting a general invitation and welcome be given to all canary fanciers in the Wellington district. Tho club will be affiliated to the North Island AMociution.
