Tho following is the team selected to represent Wellington in tho annual match against Otago at the Athletic i'ark to-morrow:—Full-back, Twomey; three-quarters, K Ryan. Algar, Fisher; five-eighths, Tilyard, Evcnson; half, Roberts; forward's, Brown, Francis, Wilson, Moifatt, Dent, AV. Ryan, 8011, Shearer. This is the same team which won tho Ranfurly Shield against Taranaki. The Otago team is due to return from the Wairarapa this morning. In addition to the members already on tour, live oxtra' players are coming up to join the team. These include Cuthill, M'Donald, Harris, Childs, and Patterson, all of whom were unable to spare the time to travel throughout the full tour. The inclusion of these players will-considerably strengthen tho visitors, and patrons may expect a keen, fast game. The game will start at 2.45. An announcement regarding feserved seat tickets appears in our advertising columns. OTAGO BEATEN BY WAIRARAPA. ' (By Telcffraph—Press Association.) Carterton, Sepfember 17. Tho Otago-Wairarapa match was played to-day under ideal weather conditions. From the start both sets of forwards played with dash, but the speedier Wairarapa pack more than held their own. J?lay was fast up and down field.. From a scrum outsido the Wairarapa twenty-five, Dryden, behind tho Otago scrum, passed tho ball to Denham, who cut in cleverly) and transferred to Whittaker, who scored near the corner. Denham converted.. Otago, o—o. From the kick-out, the Wairarapa forwards rushed play to their opponents' lino, where Blackmore handily picked up anl grounded. M'Kenzie converted. • Five all. Shortly afterwards, from a line-out at halfway, M'Kenzie (Wairarapa) secured the ball, and passed to Henderson, who passed wildly, but secured tlie, ball on the rebound, and dashed over. M'Kenzie converted. Wairarapa, 10—5. Otago vigorously pushed their opponents back, and outside tho fcwenfcyfivo Dryden put in a great run, and passed to Fogarty, who scored, Denham failed with the kick. Otago, 8— 10. The spell ended without further' scoring. In the second half the Wairarapa forwards showed themselves very superior to Otago, and, except for occasional clashes, held play in their opponents' half of the field. Knox replaced in the Otago forwards, the latter retiring with a sprained ank'e. From a line-out Desmond (Wairarapi) did fine work, and after a vigorous run transferred to Blackmore, who shortkicked to centre, where Brougk gathered up, and ran in. M'Kenzie's kick failed, the ball striking the post. Wairarapa, 13—8. Shortly afterwards, from a fine bit of loose work at the Otago twonty-five, tho ball came to M'Kenzie, who took plenty- of time, and dropped a splendid goal. Wairarapa, 17—8. Tho later play, thougti vigorous, was not brilliant. Wairarapa had to force once and Otago twice. The game throughout was interesting, but mainly on account of the forward Play. HOCKEY LADIES' MATCH. The only ladies' game to bo played ! to-morrow will bo;;that between the Kiwi team and the' Wellington representatives, which will take place at Karori Park No. lat 3 p.m. The Weilington team -will be as follows:— Misses 0. ' DOMINION BOWLERS ASSOCIATION ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Dominion Bowling Association is to bo held m Auckland to-morrow, and on Wednesday three of the southern members of tho council arrived in Wellington, en route to Auckland, continuing their journey vesterday morning. On Wednesday afternoon they wero -entertained by members of the Wellington Bowling Club, and a friendly gamo was played, resulting in the defeat of the visitors bv 28 to 22. The following were the teams :-Council: T. Bush (Wellington , M. Barnctt (Christclrarch), C. RussellSmith (Dunedin), C. Payne (Dnnedin), skip; 22. Wellington Club: I. Hyams, A Veitch, W. Berry, and J. J. Roberts (skip), 28. The' next annual tournament in connection with the Dominiou Association will bo hold at Anokland. In all probability Mr. Maurice Casey will be the president for tho yea.r. BASEBALL TO-MORROW'S PATRIOTIC GAME. 'The Wellington public will have an opportunity to-morrow of seeing an exhibition of the famous gamo of baseball, which regularly thrills America as no other game can. The match will be played on the Basin Reserve between a team of New Zealauders and a team of American ball-players resident in the Dominion, and is the first international match played in the' Dominion. The whole proceeds will be paid over to the Patriotic Fund. Tho match will be opened at 2.30 p.m., when His Excellency the Governor will pitch. the first ball, which will afterwards be sold by auction for the benefit of tho fund. A band will provide music during the game. Baseball has become very popular "lately, and has fine prospects for success m New Zealand. Those who have never seen it will probably bo astonished at the excitement that attends this "glorified rounders," and at the skill of the players. The colours to be worn are Americans, white, and tho local team black. TENNIS & CROQUET The Reserves Committee recommended to the City Council last night that the Wellington Lawn Tennis Association should bo offered the use of tho Tennis Courts at Day's Bay for 'Saturday play, during the season for tho sum of £65, and that the Ferryside Croquet Club should bo offered the use of tho grounds for croquet play, for the sum of £15. The recommendations wore adopted.
