!_ POLL RESULTS. ' The election of the Upper Hutt Town Board, took place ' oil. Wednesday, when twelve candidates offered themselves for the seven available commissionerships. ■ Out of a. roll of 860, some 400, electors recorded their votes. Hick.../. .'...", 108 Informal 2 ' The flrst-mentione.d seven will constitute the board, which will elect its chairman 'at the first meeting. After the results had been made known tho candidates returned thanks to the electors, -.- LOAN PROPOSALS:' Loan proposals were also" placed before the electors -with the following results; — For. Ag'st. Inf'L Purchase of road roller /and stone.crusher 55 ]48 31 Recreation Ground (£1400) 56 ' 148 7' Fire Brigado equipment (£3oo)' 124 88 ~22 It'will thus, bo seen that the only proposal to receive tho sanction of the ratepayers was to raise the money for the purchaso of equipment for tho fire brigade. This was carried by a majority of 36 vote 6. It was known that a. largo number of ratepayers were averse to the expenditure which.would be necessary in order to carry out the other proposals, and their rejection caused little surprise. ~^_
