VICTORIA COLLEGE COUNCIL

"A meeting of the Victoria College Council was held last night. There wore present: Mr. H. H. Ostler (chairman), the Hon. A. T. Magiimity, Dr. Hector,. Messrs. W. Ferguson, W. H. Morton, A. R. Atkin6on, C. B. Morison, and C. Watson. Letters were received from the High Commissioner, Professor Whittaker, and the Universities' Bureaii, agreeing to act in calling for applications 1 for a Professorship of Mathematics at the college, and stating the eteps taken ,in the matter. > ■ A letter was received from Mr; J.. W. Joynt stating that he attended the' Napier Tercentenary at Edinburgh as the delegate of the college. The Secretary of Education wrote regarding ' the allocation of the Opabu Reserve, Taranaki, as an endowment to the collcge, and stating that the matter would receive consideration by the Gov-, ernment at a later date. It was decided to see the Minister of Education on the matter after the departure of the Expeditionary Force.
