HUTT & PETONE NEWS.
(Prom Our Own Correspondents.) There was a largo attendance at St. David's Presbyterian Young Jlen'e liallat Petone last evening, a welcome "•social" being tendered .to 1 the Rev. A. Bruce Todd, 8.A., who was recently inducted to the office of minister. The Uev. J. M'Caw presided ; and appropriate addresses were delivered by the Kev. J. Patterson (representing tho Wellington Presbytery), the llevs. J. J. Lewis aud Steveii6on, Adjutant Hultquist, and Mi-. H. Grinstead. A programme was contributed by the following:—The Misses Gordon, Baker, and lU'lntyre, and Messrs. Chamberlain,' Feist, Vaughan, and Borrows, Mr. TV. lieiime acting as accompanist. During tho evening the opportunity was taken to present the Rev. J. M'Caw (who acted for some time as Jloderator to St. David's) with a travelling rug. Jfr. J. Duti : made the presentation on behalf of tho congregation. > At an enjoyable social gathering held last evening at the Petone TVesleyan Xoung Men's Institute items were contributed by tho Misses N. Foster and B. Udy. During the evening Mr. Ackroyd, on behalf of tho Institute, presented Mr. Ralph Pickering (who leaves on transfer to Carterton shortly) with a handsome kit-bag suitably inscribed, and referred to tho good qualities of tho guest. Air. Pickering suitably responded. Supper was served by Miss tlowson and Mr. 0. Silberry.
