> Early yesterday morning an attempt was made to enter , Mr. Howard Andrews's store at Manakau, but 'the would-be thieves beat a hasty retreat on hearing someone approach. The final for the Horowhenua hockey championship will be played at Levin on Wednesday between Otaki and.Moutca. The championship carries with it the Green Cup. The following playere will represent Otaki: Messrs. Claridge, Noble, Bell, Davison, Adsett, Thornton, Bright, Henare, Keliu, Roxburgh, andUtiku. Messrs. H. Nicolson and W. Broughton will referee. 7he mixed foursomes in connection with the Otaki Golf Club was played on Saturday, and won by~Miss Pauline Brown-and E. P. Simcox. ~.;.. Dr. Sheldon, author of several books, gave a very interesting address in Otaki on' Friday eveniuK, dealing with the liquor question. Tho attendance was large.' - ■■
