The "Times" says it is understood that Mr. Page, ;.tlie American Ambassador, had, a conversation iyith Sir Edward Grey, and that the. latter told him clearly that Britain would only become a party to peace on the understanding that the negotiations promised complete reparation and compensation for the violation or Belgian territory.
