ARSON AT GISBORNE

MAN COMMITTED FOR SENTENCE, (By Press Association.) ClSbornß, September 9. George Philip i Wakefield pleaded guilty, and was committed for sentence, for wilfully setting fire to the' British' Empire stables. In a confession, he alleged that ho had been promised ten' pounds to fire the building by Robert Gillies, the occupier of the stables. Gillios was charged with procuring Wakefield to set fire to the stables. The Magistrate held that' tbe evidonce did not support Wakefield'fl statement, and he discharged Gillies.
