PROPOSAL TO RELIEVE CONGESTION. The Tramways' Committee ■ recom--5 mended to the City Council last night f that, owing to the congestion of - frequently taking place at Coiirtenay _ Place, the necessary steps be taken to f divert ■ vehicular traffio to the north side of the reserve there. . Councillor R, A. Wright, who had a . notice on the order paper bearing, on | the matter, was doubtful whether the council'had the legal right to divert i vehicular traffic. His suggestion was that the whole matter should be the , subject of a report from the Engineer. ■ The Mayor-: There will bo' a report { before anything is done.' . . Councillor J. Godber thought that a ' comprehensive report "should bo receiv.ed on the whole question of vehicular ' and tramway traffio at Courtenay Placo, together with plans for a public conJ venience there.'
