GERMANS FORTIFYING BRUSSELS.
- 80,000 MORE TROOPS ARRIVE. GERMAN ROYALTY HOUSED IN THE PALACE. (Rec. September 2, 7.50 p.m.) . Ostend, September 1. There is a considerable movement o fresh German troops'in Brussels, and eighty thousand are duo to arrivo to-day. . The Governor has ordered the expulsion of all Britishers within twentyfour hours. . The Germans are fortifying the environs, and the cemetery has been transformed into a redoubt. The Duke of Brunswick, Gon-in-law of the Kaiser, occupies the Royal Castle, and royally entertains a large company. Belgians cycling in the outskirts, not comprehending the German commands, are frequently shot. ( — ' REAR/ATTACK BY BRITISH THOUGHT PROBABLE. (Rec. September 2, 8.50 p.m.) London, September 1. 'A dispatoh to the "New York Journal" states the Press censorship in London was suddenly tightened at noon to-day without any warning. The result was that numerous dispatches relating to the operations in' France and Belgium were held up. The action of the British authorities is interpreted in New York as being highly significant, and it is pointed out that the operation in Belgium may relate to a rear attack on the Germans by British troops from Ostend. ,• . ■ "TAKE COURAGE, YOU WILL SOON BE DELIVERED." (Rec. September 2, 11.30 p.m.) Amsterdam, September 2. The Germans ineffectually attacked a French biplane which twioe circled Brussels, dropping hundreds of handbills headed: ''Take courage, you will soon be delivered. The aviator before, disappearing gave an exhibition of upside-down flying. i Two Josuvd professors of the University of Louvain were shot because they had in their possession papers relating to German atrocities. GREAT MOVEMENT TOWARDS ANTWERP. * - (Rec. September 2, 1\.85 p.m.) , Oatend, September 2., A great movement of Germans in Brussels towards Lierre and Termonde is interpreted as an early attempt on their part to invest and bombard Antwerp. . '■■Lierre lies nine miles south-east of Antwerp, and Termonde nineteen miles south-west. Termonde is a fortified town. DIPLOMATS REFUSE TO OBEY GERMAN ORDERS. (Rec. September 2, 5.5 p.m.) Amsterdam, September 1. It is stated that Heir Jakdoski, the German" Governor of Brussels, is in difficulties with the American and Spanish Ministers, who refuse to obey his orders forbidding the use of code cablegrams. The American Minister declares that he will uphold Belgian rights , -while he remains.—("Times" and Sydney "Sun" Services.")
