ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES
SEVERELY SCALDED, ■' The fourth engineer of the TJlimaroa, Robert M'Pherson, was severely scalded on both feet as the result of a steam pipe bursting yesterday morning. Mr. M'Pherson was attended to on _ board, 1 and then removed to the Hospital. A married man, named Charles Wood, 3 resident of 70 ' Taranaki Street, fell down the hold of a steamer on (Which he was working.at the Taranaki Street Wharf last evening. He sustained slight injuries to the head, and was badly shaken. After receiving medical attention he was removed to tho Hospital. A MYSTERIOUS DEATH. (By Telegraph.—Press, Association.) ■"' Dunedin, September 1. ■ The Dunedin police were notified this evening that a man named 'William Holt had'diod at Portobello to-day. The doctor had.declined to give a death certificate and the body was removed to the Dunedin morgue. The matter has heen reported to the Coroner? who has ordered a post-mortem examination. An inquest will take place to-day.
