MAGISTRATE'S COURT
BREACHES OF THE PEACE BAD FEELING ON THE WHARF. Mr. D. G. A. Cooper, S.M., presided over a sitting of the Magistrate s Court' yesterday morning. As the result of a disturbance on the Railway Wharf on Saturday, William M'Gep and Harold Donnellan were* charged with committing a breach of the' peace. The evidence given in regard to the affair was conflicting, and the Magistrate eventually decided to dismiss the information aaginst Donnellan while M'Goe was fined 10s., or 48 hours' gaol. The disturbance was resultant on bad feeling between rival factions on the wharf.
Alexander Rennio and Henry Slado were charged with committing a breacli of the peace in- Willis Street on Saturday evening. The latter was the aggressor, and was fined 10s., or 48 hours m gaol. The charge- against Jennie was dismissed. l ■. >' LIQUOR AFTER HOURS. A night porter named Robert Ross appeared to _ answer two charges, one ot serving liquor after hours at the Club Hotel, and with supplying an intoxicated person with liquor, j He pleaded guilty to the first charge, but,-not guilty to the second. The Magistrate took into consideration the statement, that accused was reported to have been most trustworthy tor the past two years, and fined 'him 55., with costs 75., on the first charge, and £1 with costs 7s. on the second. . OTHER OASES. Mary Harding pleaded not guilty to a charge of being a rogtto and a vagabond in that she was found on the premises of Parker Bros, without lawful oxeusa. "You have. just, como out of gaol," remarked the- Magistrate, as ho gave her a further month's detention. Ernest Harold Holladay, charged with desertion from the s.s. fined 10s., or 48 hours, and ordered to pay medical expenses, 205., and Daniel Elliot 10s., or 48 liours. Ten first offenders wmo dealt with, this number including a Sunday offeiwlcr who was lined os.. . ' MAINTENANCE ORDERS. Eleanor • Hatfield made no appearance in answer to a charge of disobeying a maintenance order, and was if.-n----teiicerl to 21 days', imprisonment, the warrant to lm suspended on the payment of 2s. 6d. a. week. Win. Steven6on was ordered imprisoned for three days for disobeying a maintenance order, the warrant to be suspended on the payment of 4s. a week. • i Chas. Wilsou was sentenced to seven days' imprisonment for disobejn'ng a maintenance order. The sentence is to bo deferred on tho payment of Is. 6d. a week. ■ • Mary Anne Satchell Robinson proceeded against Chas. Robinson for summary'separation on the grounds of failing to maintain and habitual drunkenness. Mr. P..-W. Jackson appeared for complainant, and Mr. J. J. M'Grath for defendant. After hearing partial evidence tho case was -adjourned till Thursday.
