OBITUARY

LORD MERTHYR. By Telegraph—Prcs3 Association-Copyright (Rec. August 28, 6.5 p.m.) London, August 27. Lord Merthyr is dead. The deceased, who was known as William Thomas Lewis, was raised to the peerage in 1911. He was born at Mer-thyr-Tydvil in 1837, and was for some time a member of the Council of Civil Engineers, and was acfcely associated with various civil and mining engineering institutions.
