RIFLE CLUB RESERVE CORPS

On Saturday rifles and eguipmont were issued, to ap those on parade. Tonight the balance of the rifles and equip-, ment will bo given out. Major-General Sir Alexandor Godley has announced his intention of inspecting the company tomorrow night, at Buckle Street. A full parade is required with rifles and equipment at 7.20 p.m. .'.■-:

■ Among tho many contributions to Lady Liverpool's Fund, which money is being devoted to the sartorial comfort of the troops going abroad, are many curious objects, which may have been as dear to tho sender as many gifts of • greater intrinsio value. Ono gift was: an old silver watoh, tho case almost worn smooth, sont down from the country by an old Maori to bo realised on for the Fund. Ono little girl,-resident in Halcombe, forwarded a tiny copy of the New Testament, bemud in fjed; leather, and enclosed, in a cose, which one hopes will fall into the hands of someone who ■ will appreciate the pretty action, arid the sweet thought- whioh prompted it, of. the : little maid of Tfalcombe. Another tiny tot of tho gentle* sox, resident at Seatoun, forwarded by post a card of buttons, to'be onplosed in one of tho "housewives." These are only a few of the many littlo offerings, sacrifices no doubt in somo cases, that are hoing made by young'and old during the present crisis. .
