A TRIAL GAME. That th-3 hockey game has received a severe l)lo\v from the all-abiding interest m the present crisis was very evident at Karovi on Saturday afternoon, inere was only ono men's game played J-nis was between representative A'and «■ teams, a game that was played to give- tho selectors an opportunity of choosing the team that is shortly to journey to Auckland to endeavour to wrest tho sliield from tho present holders- In Saturday's game the A team was successful by i goals to 2. Louder v>, I*. Strack. and C. Strack scored tor the winners, and Emeny and Cavill tor the losers. It was evident from the samo that most of the A team, withone or two alterations, notably the halflino, will go to make the shield representative eleven. In spite of tho languishing interest in tho game locally, it was evident that Wellington will bo able to muster a team that will have, every hope of returning from the Queen City with the coveted shield. SCHOOL COMPETITION.
Technical College (8) had an easy win over Iβ Aro (1). Scorers for the winners were: Burt (2), Littleiohn (2), Jeromsen, Adams, Brown, ana Parslow. Karori also had a romping victory over Mount Cook, winning by 7 to 0. lhe scorers were: Watchman (2), Cooper (2), Smith, Raine, and Lowery.
The southern men's tour projected by the Wellington Association has, it is annouced, now been definitely abandoned. This, of course, is resultant upon the unsettled conditions arising out of tho present war. LADIES' CAMES,
Only one senior ladies' game was played at Karori on Saturday. This was between Syrens and Girls' College. Ilie former team took , tie field minus two players, and quite naturally were easily defeated by 4 goals to 1. In apite of the unevenly Balanced teams, the game was fast and interesting, bright individual play predominating,' however. Miss Laurehson, who played a brilliant game, secured throe of the winners' goals, and Miss M'Kenzie the other. Mr. J. C. Cusack was referee. Rambler A won by default from Rambler B.
Junior, , Technical College and Girls' College played a drawn' game, one all.

The Jiarori Club met "Waiwetu on
the Kaiori links on Saturday. The men's match resulted in three wins and three losses to cadi side, and ono all square. The Karori ladies won all games with the exception of one which was all squaro. -The results are as under, the Karori players being: mentioned first:— Burnett v. Jackson) 1 up; Boyes v.
