:_;■•; THE NE,W KATES. : The fortnightly meeting of the Miramar Borough Council was hold last-night. There were present: Councillors Stone (in the chair), Smith,. Underwood, Tracy, Hawthorn, and Dr. Edith Huntly. Prior to the ordinary meeting of the council a special meeting was held to makerand levy rates' for the year ending March.3l; 1915. The rates for the current year were fixed as follow:—A general rate of 2id. in the £; rate for Hospital and Charitbale Aid purposes, $d. in the and a special rate of in the £ to provide interest on loans.- a ' . /A reply received from the City Trim-. : way Board to the council's request that' the 5.1 p.m. and .5.26 p.m. cars Mondays to Fridays, and the HUG pirn, car on Saturdays, be made through fare cars, stated that at present the 5,1 p.m. car fan as a minimum fare car, and the 5.26 p.m. car bad been run as a minimum fare car. for eonie time; but as'the loading was only small, it had been discontinued. The letter added that there was no objection, however, U> the-running of the 10.46 p.m. car as a minimum fare cat on Saturdays, and this-was. now. being done. ; .;
