..»— —— ' EVIDENCE AT THE INQUIRY.' (By TeleEranli—Press Association.) Dunedin, August. 12. An inquest was held to Jay before, tho District Coroner (Mr. C. C. Graham), to inquire into tlie circumstances of death of Fredoriok Stephens. 11 years of age, who was killed by falling under a train at the railway station on Monday night. Evidence was given that when the trainwas slowing down at the station deceased wag seen on the steps of the carriage. He jumped off and on again and then off again when he stumbled and fell , under the carriage. • The Coroner said. that this was only another instance whioh showed the neceasity of the public attending to,the warnings of the railway authorities for passengers not to attempt to leave or board a train while it was in motion. This was evidence of the neglect of this very wise precaution. It was one of the very sad cases that would happen. People foolishly and negligently left carnages and at their, own rislc. The Government vory properly said they would not be re-> sponsible for any Occident which oo' cured unifier such circumstances. Th.® cause of death was due to deceased acci* dently falling from -a: railway .carriage Trh-en attempting to board it while the! train was in motion,, no blame being attachable to anyone. ' -
