Sydney Rhind, who is studying medicine in London, has passed, his second medical examination, and has- tills year taken the Johnson Prize in Anatomy and tho Pollock Prize in Physiology at ■St.. George's Hospital, also the Huxley Prisse and tho Jelf Modal at King's College. Mr. Honry St. George, Examiner for Trinity College of Music, London, is at. present examining, tho inland towns of tho North Island en route to Wellington, where practical examinations will take place,, on or about September 15.. Mr..'Hush J. Ward, of the J. C. Williamson, Ltd., directorate, has been appointed a member of tho Council of the New Sou Hi Wales Conservatoire of Musio (tho State institution which is to be established in the historic Government House, situated next to the Sydney Botoiiical Gardens). Mr. Ward is not strictly speaking, a musician, but Mrs. Ward is qnito a good musician and a very'beautiful singer. . Several stowaways wero found amongthe Auckland contingenters when the special train reached Pnlmerston yesterday, says' our special correspondent. When tho roll was called several wero found to have accompanied the party unknown to the officers, and appeared very eager to got to the front. They wore put off tho train for reoonsignment to Auckland. , Mr. A. JR. Atkinson, tho well-known Wellington solicitor, and member of tho Wellington City Council, returned froiri a trip to England by the Atlicmic yesler: day afternoon. Mr. Atkinson, who 'lias bean absent from the Dominion ' since Christmas last, spent most of his time at Homo in London ami Oxford, and had n thoroughly enjoyable time Mr. S. C. Baron, manager of Messrs. Uiniock and Co., Ltd., returned by the MitoJio from Australia .yesterday.
