,- — #_ . A meeting of tho Hutt Borough Council was held last evening,, the Mayor (Mr. H. Baldwin) presiding. A letter was. reoeived from Messrs. Bell, Gully, Bell, and 1 Myers, in respect to a water pipe across White's line; the property of ■ the' Wellington .Meat Export Company. The matter was referred to'the borough solicitor for further information..' ''■'•'.• The borough engineer (Mr. W. Roche) was appointed billiard-room inspector. The engineer's report recommended that a road-grader ■be hired for a few days from the Hutt County Council, to test its capabilities on the borough roads, with a view! to procuring l one next year. The oost of repairs Jiad been: Waterloo Road, .£27 45.. id.; King's Road, .£32 10s.. 7d. The gas consumption for the gas year just closed was 10,178,000 feet,' so that for the coming year,' the borough is entitled to 3d. per 1000 ft.. reduction. :
