A GOOD BEGINNING.
' BY WOMEN'S LEAGUE. The usual monthly '--meeting of the women's branoh of the Political Reform League was held last evening, the president, Mrs. Hadfield, said thatVall must '■ feel that the '■ present occasion was not one in which they eared to dwell on 'local politics, and she moved' that Hie meeting resolve itself into a working'body to bo at-the .disposal..of the authorities to assist in providing kits for the TJkpeditioriury' Forco shortly to be seiit away from Now Zealand. The following; resolution Vas moved.by Mrs. J. Darling:— . "That this large and representative meeting of women expresses whole-hearted admiration of the attitude of the. Imperial Government in seeking to maintain tho integrity of peaceful nations against the unwarrantable aggression of Germany; and, further, desires to express its entire confidence and'approval of the actions of the Government of New Zealand in.its determination to assist to tho utmost of its powers and resources in tho defence of the groat Imperial interests which are at present at stake." ' . . The motion was seconded by . Mrs. Burton. Speaking to the resolution, Mrs. G. Earlo pointed out that while man could engage himself in actiyo defence of his country, woman's part was largely one of patient waiting, and yet was she not doing an equally hoblo work when she parted with her sons, her husband, and her brothers? Prayers, for tho ; success of the Army and Navy, and'for the bo-' roaved and the suffering were felt in tho ir.nennost heart ef every woman to whom the war was a vivid reality, and the. J speaker closed with the lines, "May wo llm strong in adversity, hmnbla in victory! God savo the King!" SUPERFLUOUS HAIR.
