FLAX GRADING
COMPLAINTS .BY , THE.; MILLERS. (Bt Telegraph.—Specie! CoTrespondent.J Palmerston North, July 31. The New Zealand Flaxmillors' Association, a<. its annual meeting on Thursdaj, ■ elected the following officers :'— President, Mr. Herman Seifert; vicepi esident, Mr. C. 0. Higginson; treasurer, MrR. T. Bell; executive, Messrs. E L. Broad, H. Greig, J. Licguis, A. Self art, A'. -Brown, L. Seifert, H. Akers. A Ross W. Bock, and W; Ross; A complaint of under-grading by the Government graders was discussed. This complaint was attributed to the graders being terrorised bv :complaints from the Australian merchants, who thus provoked a continual grading up. Hemp, which three years ago would have been graded high to fair, was not,..it was stated, only good to fair, causing'the loss of thousands of pounds to New Zealand interests.' : ■• • ' ■
: Mr. A. 'Seifert said that grading was certainly rising faster than the ' improvements at mills could follow.
Mr. E. L.' Broad (president) ed.that,the Government should appoint an Appeal Board'to deal with Austra-
lian complaints, and finally Messrs. Seifert, Ross, / Greig, and Bell were appointed to approach the Department.
