GOVERNMENT MAKING INQUIRIES Replying, to a question by Dr. Newman as to whether it ivns his intention to appoint women to tlie Police Force,' tJio Minister of Justice (the Hon. A. L Herdmaii) said in tlie House yesterday: "Several women tit the present time hold appointments in tlio Police Force as matrons and searchers. The Government desires to communicate with the Governments of countries 'in which women constables n're employed, and alter considering the, information obtained from that source will decide upon a course of action." •
