The iroik, in falling, crashed through ■ another roof/--' ■--■ '!'■■' The proprietor; who was absent for a while, left a neighbour, a. bootmaker named Shelker, in charge. The shock of the explosion broke a plate-glass window across the street,- • WAGON FALLS OYER A CLIFF. 'DRIVER AND FOUR HORSES KILLED. • ; ,' /' Auckland, July 28. A wagon and six horses, owned by Brenan and Co./ of Paeroa, fell over a cliff at Rotokuku. A rescue party found the dead body of the ■ driver, Earnie Sims, a married hian, 38 years of age, pinned under tho wagon. Four of the horses wero killed. - ). . BLOCKED DOWN BY A CAR. Denis Cronin,_ who was knocked down by a tramcar in v Courtonay Monday afternoon; is reported by the Hospital authorities to be in a semiconscious condition. He has sustained concussion of the brain and a fracture of the, skull: ' ■■' MAN HURT AT PETOK'E WORK- •.•' SHOPS. -•■".- A man named Thomas Hollis, a "holder-up" in the boiler-making department of the Petone-Railway Workshops, had! his foot badly crushed yesterday, owing to a piece of plate-iron falling. It is considered that he will be unable to resumo work for some time.
