MAGISTRATE'S COURT
A SERIOUS CHARCE. ' . A young man named Oharles Chadwick was charged at the Magistrate's Court on Saturday, before Mr/ D. G. A .Cooper, S.M., with having attempted to commit an assault oh a small boy. Chadwick pleaded not guilty, and- was remanded till July 29. Mr. J. F. W. Dickson, who appeared for the accused, asked for bail, but Inspector Hendrey objected/ Chadwick had already attempted to escape, and' was only captured with difficulty. Bail wasWusea. 'MAORI YOUTH IN.TROUBLE. . Bartlett Oteno, a Maori youth, .was convicted. and ordered to como up for sentence when called upon, on a charge of theft of £10 in money, and goods valued at £3 125., from a wharo at Lyall Bay, occupied by Mario Solby. The accused admitted. receiving the foods mentioned from a pereon named ack Osborne, but denied having anything to do with the stolen money. Mr. Arson, who appeared for Oteno, pointed' out that he had been in custody since July 18.. ' INSOBRIETY. For insobriety, Patrick Daly was fined '£1, and Mary Jane Sniylie was fined 10s. One first offender was fined 10s., and another was convicted and discharged.
